Alphabet Movement Cards

This is an excellent resource for students of all abilities to make UPPERCASE LETTERS using their bodies. Research supports the use of movement in the classroom and the use of multiple sensory input (such as movement) to learn letters. There are 26 cards in all, with 4 cards on each page.

 

Students look at the visual and use their body to form letters. If you use a handwriting program you can even have students form the letters by skywriting before forming with their body. You can use this for full class, small groups, centers, therapy and more! Student’s can spell their names, spelling words, words their way words, sight words, red words and more! You could call out letters and have students make.

Use this as brain breaks to spell a word. Have students hold each pose for 10 – 20 seconds safely.

 

This is great for whole class, small group, therapy, centers, This could be used for general education, special education, and ESL / ELL.

 

This type of activity can support motor planning, visual perceptual skills, visual motor skills, age appropriate gross motor skills, crossing midline,visual spatial skills, and fine motor skills.

 

This is perfect for RTI / MTSS as an intervention for handwriting, letter formation, and pre-handwriting skills.This is great for visual scanning, visual perceptual skills, coordination, visual motor integration and fine motor. This is also a perfect activity for occupational therapists OT, teachers, speech pathologists SLP, special education SPED teachers and other school professionals while working on skills!

 

I am a school occupational therapist who has a doctorate in occupational therapy. I work closely with special education and general education staff adapting material. This is where I get my inspiration for this material. I have used my materials with a variety of children with different disabilities including learning disabilities, dyslexia, autism, sensory processing disorder, ADD, ADHD, visual impairments, dyspraxia, deaf/hard of hearing, cerebral palsy, down syndrome and more.
