Functional Pre-writing lines Calendar, weather, days of week, etc

Are your students working on pre-writing lines and also working on a morning sign in that includes days of the week, weather, feelings, season, and clothing color? This resource you need to assist your students in participating in calendar using pre-writing lines. Students use pre-writing lines to fill in the answer to each question.

Days of the week (Pages 3 – 27). Each page has three different statements: Today is… Tomorrow is… Yesterday was…. There is one page for each type of line vertical, horizontal, circle, plus sign and diagonal for EACH day. Students do not pick choices, these are errorless, where students just connect the lines.

Weather (Pages 28-32) This includes ”What’s the weather today?” The choices are sunny, rainy, cloudy, snowy and windy. Students must pick their choice. There is one page for each type of line vertical, horizontal, circle, plus sign and diagonal

Feelings (Pages 33-37) This includes “How are you?…I feel…” Students choose happy, sad, and mad. Students must pick their choice. There is one page for each type of line vertical, horizontal, circle, plus sign and diagonal

Seasons: (Pages 38-42) This includes “What’s the season? The season is…” Students choose one of the seasons. This includes vertical, horizontal, circle, plus sign and diagonal line.

Clothes: (Pages 43-51) This includes “What color are my pants?” “What color is my shirt?” and “What color are my shoes?”. These are each on separate pages. Students choose one of the colors. This includes vertical lines, horizontal lines, and circles.

 

Laminate the pages so you can use over and over. Put these in morning binders, writing centers or use during calendar time. If you put these in a binder, you could put tabs for each day. PLEASE LOOK AT THE PREVIEW CAREFULLY AND ONLY DOWNLOAD IF YOU UNDERSTAND THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

This engages students in practicing core concepts pre-writing lines, fine motor skills, visual motor skills and more. This is perfect for general education students but also students with Autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, ADD, sensory processing disorder, and other special needs. This can be used with general education, RTI, MTSS, special education, occupational therapy, speech language pathology, and social work.

 

This can support crossing midline, functional grasp, pinch grasp, hand strength and coordination.

 

I am a school occupational therapist who has a doctorate in occupational therapy. I work closely with special education and general education staff adapting material. This is where I get my inspiration for this material.
