Pre-writing Task Cards

These 36 (or 72-depending on how you cut) pre-writing shape / line task cards focus on the 9 basic shapes / lines that make up all letters. This includes a horizontal line, vertical, circle, cross, square, diagonal lines, oblique cross and triangle.

This is perfect for a self contained, I.I., resource, Autism classroom, resource, preschool or any classroom to practice the fine motor / visual motor foundations for writing.

Directions:

Laminate each page (optional for students to use dry erase marker). Cut out each rectangle box for 36 task cards.If you would like, you could cut into squares instead for 72 cards.Level 1: Pages 4-6 are level one with thicker lines and more visual cues.Level 2: Pages 7-9 are thinner lines and less visual cues.

This type of activity can support hand strength, visual scanning, visual perceptual skills, visual motor skills, age appropriate grasp crossing midline, and fine motor skills.

 

This is perfect for RTI / MTSS / 504 / IEP as an intervention for hand strength and pre-handwriting skills. This could also be used in a center. This is also a perfect activity for occupational therapists OT, teachers, speech pathologists SLP, special education teachers SPED and other school professions while working on skills!

 

I am a school occupational therapist who has a doctorate in occupational therapy. I work closely with special education and general education staff adapting material. This is where I get my inspiration for this material.
